Dating Your Husband At Home

One thing we tend to push aside after marrying the man of our dreams is how we got to where we are together.  Sometimes, the best part of growth in a relationship is the dating.  As we continue through life’s journey together, we need to remember that, while we have already married the man we will spend our lives with, we still need to focus on dating our husbands.  Here are a few ideas for “Dating Your Husband At Home” to spend time with your man in the place you spend the most time together.

1. Double Feature Date Night: 2 movies (1 for you and 1 for him), 1 bowl of popcorn, 1 large drink, and your favorite seat to share.  This is great because you each get to pick a movie.  No one gets all the power to pick and overrule the other.  It’s just like going on a movie date, but in the comfort of your own home.  You also get some private snuggle time. Another fun idea would be to spread a blanket on the floor and you now have a “movie in the park” feeling.

2 Take-Out by Candlelight: We all have those days when the work day has just taken all you have to give.  Who says you can’t still have a romantic dinner with the man who’s at home waiting just for you?  Pick up a dinner to go on the way home or order delivery, but use your fancy china and light a few candles for a little mood lighting.

3. Living Room Picnic: This is a great idea for a rainy day.  Pack your picnic basket.  Place a blanket on the floor.  Voila.  Picnic in the living room.  Choose anything from cheese and crackers to a full on tailgate-style spread.

4. Music Marathon:  Choose your favorite online music provider and take turns selecting songs.  My husband and I did this one day, and before we knew it, it was dark in our house with the exception of the laptop screen that we kept passing back and forth on the couch to make our selections.  Make it a game by challenging each other to guess the title and/or artist within 30 seconds.  After each round, reduce the time limit and see who knows their music best.

5. A Look Back:  Spend an evening looking at old photos, photo albums, and/or year books.  Take a trip down memory lane beginning with the time you first met.  Or go even further back and get a laugh out of those cute baby photos.  You can learn a lot about your husband when you see pictures of him with his family when he was growing up or when he was playing high school sports.  Make sure to explain the pictures and not just flip through them randomly.

6.YouTube Video Marathon:  Similar to the music marathon, take turns selecting videos.  It doesn’t matter what kind of videos.  You can choose funny, educational, romantic, inspirational.  Whatever mood the two of you are in, there are plenty of videos to choose from.

Now, the next few are a little more suited for nights when you’re feeling a little friskier, if you know what I mean. 😉

7. Game Night: Whether it’s video games, board games, or card games, it can be a night of playfulness for just the two of you. Spice it up by making it the “Married Edition”. Pay for your properties while playing Monopoly with kisses instead of Monopoly money. Set an activity for each roll of the dice when playing Yahtzee. Each number represents a different activity to do with your spouse. And since it’s just you and your husband, you can always turn up the heat by playing “strip” whatever. Take a twist on the strip poker game with any other game you have around the house. Strip Battleship anyone? 🙂

8. Spa Treatment: Start with a “couple’s” massage with each of you taking time to work out all the kinks and tightness for each other.  Use your favorite lotions or oils.  Another great idea would be a candle light bubble bath.  Need I say any more?

9. Treasure Hunt: Just like the scavenger hunts you went on as kids.  Place notes around the house with clues on how to find the next one.  Get creative and make sure that the time he takes gives you time to get the “treasure” to it’s destination.  The “treasure” could be anything from a small gift to his favorite dinner to a surprise waiting on him in the bedroom. It’s totally up to you and what your husband will appreciate as his reward for the completing the Treasure Hunt.

10. A Game of Love: Now, I cannot take credit for this one.  I found it on a Pinterest post, but I think it would be a great idea.  You use a fitted sheet and a marker to create the game board.  You set the sheet up like a game board, creating spaces with a “task” to complete.  You move from space to space by the roll of the dice.  You have 90 seconds to complete each task. You may need to set a timer so you (or your husband) don’t get too carried away on one task.  The final space says “SCORE!!!” No skipping ahead!  For instructions, go to http://www.thedatingdivas.com/romantic-rendevous/the-game-of-love/

I hope these 10 ideas will give you something to do on your next at home date night with your husband.  And remember, the key to dating your husband is to always have fun!!!
